INFO > Brighton’s Frazier Chorus debuted in 1987 with the EP “Sloppy Heart”, produced by Gil Norton and released on 4AD. The band’s dreamy pop sound secured them a contract with Virgin Records, though which Frazier Chorus issued two LPs and a half-dozen singles between 1988 and 1990. This 1991 US release is a bit of an oddity, combining Paul Oakenfold’s remixes of “Cloud 8” with extended versions of earlier singles and the band’s brilliantly blissed out cover of “Anarchy In The UK.” It’s capped off with cover art appropriated from the UK promo single “Heaven.”

After the Virgin era ended, singer Tim Freeman continued Frazier Chorus as a solo project, programmer Chris Taplin explored Latin sounds with Vanessa Quinones as Espiritu, and percussionist Michele Allardyce did some session work. Kate Holmes has been Frazier Chorus’ most successful alumnus: she married Creation label founder Alan McGee in 1998; worked with Xan Tyler as dance pop duo Technique in 1999; formed electro girl group Client in 2002; then subsequently founded an apparel brand inspired by Client’s penchant for vintage uniforms.
