INFO > Back in 1990, Factory Records impresario Tony Wilson didn’t care much for dance music, this despite his company’s stake in Manchester’s influential Haçienda nightclub, not to mention his label’s frequently danceable output. Fortunately, fellow Factory director and New Order’s manager Rob Gretton liked to get his groove on and so founded dance imprint Robs Records. This reissue of Miami-based Beat Club’s 1988 freestyle hit was Robs’ debut release, featuring additional vocals and remixes by Bernard Sumner. Sadly, both Tony and Rob are no longer with us and the world is truly a lesser place without them.
Recommended: Various Artists “Auteur Labels: Robs Records” (LTMCD 2542), and Beat Club “Paris” (LTMCD 2559), both available from the excellent LTM Recordings.
