03 Self Control

INFO > A massive international smash throughout the summer of 1984, “Self Control” was the most successful single recorded by the late Laura Branigan (1957 – 2004). The title track from Branigan’s third album, “Self Control” was written by Steve Piccolo, Giancarlo Bigazzi, and Raffaele Riefoli; the latter recorded his own take of the song, which was released concurrently with Branigan’s version.

The song’s stylish and racy promotional video was directed by Academy Award winner William Friedkin:

And here’s Raf’s version, which reached No. 1 in his native Italy:

  1. Thanks! I’ve never heard the RAF (my initials) version.

  2. many thanks for the little journey into the past. I remember both versions and can not decide whitch one was the better…Cheers :)

  3. one of best 80s tracks…thanks shelf!!

  4. I’m quite sure Raf’s version was released way before Laura’s,
at least in Europe you could hear it everywhere months before the american version started to get airplay
